Linguistic Bibliography Online

NEWS

We are delighted to announce that the Linguistic Bibliography will be published by Brill as of 1 April 2008. The Linguistic Bibliography is a high-quality reference work, which perfectly covers the language niche areas that Brill specializes in. It is an essential linguistic reference tool that has been in print since 1950 and is unique in its field. We, therefore, look forward to further develop the bibliography both in print and online.

The bibliographical database of linguistics

The Linguistic Bibliography Online provides bibliographical references to scholarly publications in linguistics. It covers all branches of linguistics, both theoretical and descriptive, from all geographical areas. The emphasis is on non-Indo-European languages and lesser known Indo-European languages, including endangered and extinct languages. As regards the place of publication, the focus is particularly on hard-to access linguistic works published outside Western Europe and North-America. This is guaranteed by the collaboration of some forty contributing specialists from all over the world. The database contains all entries of the printed volumes of the Linguistic Bibliography for the years 1993-2003 and an increasing number of more recent references.

The Linguistic Bibliography is edited by Sijmen Tol and Hella Olbertz on the authority of the Comité international permanent de linguistes under the auspices of the International Council for Philosophy and Humanistic Studies of UNESCO.

The Linguistic Bibliography at Brill

As of 2008, annual volumes of the Linguistic Bibliography will be published in print by Brill. Brill will also develop the Linguistic Bibliography Online and improve functionalities and interface to launch a new fully-searchable online database. Until launch, this database remains freely accessible on this location. For more information on the new online database or Brill's Language & Linguistics programme, please contact the Acquisitions Editor Language & Linguistics, Mrs. Liesbeth Kanis, kanisbrill.nl.
